This Week in Montreal: November 4 to 10

McGill Chamber Choir & Marie-Josée Lord
Under the baton of conductor Boris Brott, the MCO plays a programme of Spanish and Portuguese music with soprano Marie-Josée Lord. Night in Lisboa, a programme at once traditional, modern and daring, which will include works by Granados, Lizée, Sarasate, Rodrigo and Villa-Lobos. Salle Bourgie, November 5, 7:30pm. New Composition by Sixtrum
Percussion ensemble Sixtrum will perform its newest composition, staged by Michel G. Barette. These six creative drummers have let their unbridled imaginations run wild, exploring soundscapes from outside the beaten track of contemporary percussion. The works of Cage, Leroux, Reich and Vivier will be performed alongside compositions by the musicians of the ensemble, João Catalão, Julien Compagne, Julien Grégoire, Philip Hornsey, Kristie Ibrahim and Fabrice Marandola. Chapelle Historique du Bon-Pasteur – In the Heart of the Celebration
In the SMCQ Denis Gougeon Hommage Series, the Arkea Ensemble’s ten performers, under the direction of Dina Gilbert, offer a celestial voyage across Gougeon’s planetary cycle as well as a tribute piece composed by seven of his former students. The Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques
The next generation of Italian singers will join the international programme of the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques for a Soirée lyrique franco-italienne. Chiara Mogini, Federica Spatola and Veronica Lazzeri, as well as the artistic director of the Bologna Opera, Fulvio Macciardi, will participate in the Soirée, with 25 opera singers from 11 countries.
